Meet the family
Ciao! I'm Gianluca Barco, and it is a real pleasure for me to introduce you to my family who has been making custom steel frames since 1947.
Nonno Mario is the spark that ignited our fire. A frame builder from another era and a true artisan. He worked with the best-known brands of the time, starting with an iconic factory in via Quinta Strada, where his hand created frames used by legends such as Freddy Maertens and Eddy Merckx.
His dedication was so strong that, at the end of the day, he used to load a dozen of frames on his Vespa to continue working in his home workshop. There, my father Alberto and my uncle Maurizio made their first steps as frame builders. Looking back, it is thrilling to think that in the family house of via Marconi we can find the foundations of the very first Cicli Barco.
That spirit is still with us and through continuous research and development, we are among the excellences that build handcrafted steel frames.
My father Alberto is the backbone of the company. A master frame builder specialized in TIG welding, a technique that he has learned since his first appearance in the cycling industry. His welds have now reached such a high level that are no longer a simple connection between tubes, but a real work of art.
Maurizio is the uncle with a fine, curious, and ingenious mind. He is a master frame builder and an expert in the brazing technique. His creations are considered some of the most iconic parts of our frames.
Fabiola is the mother that all steel lovers would dream of. She chose to follow Alberto in this journey, becoming a master frame builder too. She is in charge of the entire phase of preparation of the frame, following each measurement, cut and milling with surgical precision.
The family grows, and Andrea immediately felt at home. A friendly and helpful face that will support you on this journey. An attentive connoisseur of the cycling world, he is a precious guide when defining our tailor-made projects.
Honesty, concreteness, and willingness are the values in which we all strongly believe. I follow my path, with this magnificent artisan heritage on my shoulders, an important but essential weight that will guarantee the uniqueness that distinguishes us and our frames.
I'm happy to have introduced you to the people behind the brand because it’s not always a matter of frames. Here we create real bonds that will be renewed every time you will be riding your new handmade bicycle. Each project has its own face and personality, and both become pieces of our journey and why not, also part of our family.
Una questione di famiglia
Ciao, sono Gianluca Barco ed è per me un vero piacere farvi conoscere la mia famiglia che dal 1947 realizza telai in acciaio su misura.
Nonno Mario è l’inizio tutto, un telaista d'altri tempi e artista della saldobrasatura. Ha lavorato con i più noti marchi del tempo, cominciando da un’iconica fabbrica in via Quinta Strada, dove la sua mano ha creato telai usati da leggende come Freddy Maertens e Eddy Merckx.
La dedizione era tale che alla fine della giornata era solito caricare una dozzina di telai sulla sua Vespa per continuare a lavorare nel laboratorio di casa. Lì, mio padre Alberto e mio zio Maurizio, muovevano i primi passi come telaisti. Guardando indietro è un’emozione pensare che nella casa di famiglia di via Marconi, ci fossero già le fondamenta della primissima Cicli Barco.
Oggi continuiamo a portare in alto quello stesso spirito e, attraverso un continuo lavoro di ricerca e sviluppo nella tradizione, siamo tra le eccellenze che costruiscono telai in acciaio artigianali.
Mio padre Alberto è la colonna portante dell’azienda. Un maestro telaista specializzato nella saldatura a TIG, tecnica che ha appreso fin dalla prima apparizione nel settore ciclistico. Il livello raggiunto è tale da rendere ogni saldatura una vera opera d’arte.
Maurizio è lo zio dalla mente fine, curiosa e ingegnosa. Anche lui è un maestro telaista e un esperto nella tecnica della saldobrasatura. Le sue creazioni sono considerate tra le parti più iconiche dei nostri telai.
Fabiola è la mamma che tutti gli amanti dell’acciaio vorrebbero. Ha scelto di seguire Alberto in quest’avventura diventando anche lei una maestra telaista. Gestisce inoltre l’intera fase di preparazione del telaio e segue con precisione chirurgica ogni misura, taglio e fresatura.
La famiglia si allarga con Andrea, che si è subito trovato a casa. Un viso amico e disponibile che vi accompagna in questo percorso. Conoscitore attento del mondo ciclistico è una preziosa guida nella definizione dei nostri progetti su misura.
Onestà, concretezza e disponibilità sono i valori in cui noi tutti crediamo fortemente. Io percorro la mia strada, con alle spalle questa stupenda eredità artigianale, un peso importante ma essenziale per mantenere l’unicità che contraddistingue noi e i nostri telai.
Sono contento di avervi fatto conoscere le persone dietro ai nostri progetti, perché non è sempre una questione di soli telai.
Qui si creano veri e propri legami che si rinnoveranno ogni qualvolta sarete in sella alla vostra nuova bicicletta. Ogni progetto ha il suo volto e la sua personalità ed entrambi diventano tasselli del nostro percorso e perché no, anche parte della nostra famiglia.
